OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE

Step back in time and celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas on Saturday, December 7, from 6-8 p.m. as historic site staff, friends, and family open the doors to beautifully decorated buildings. Tour the site and enjoy holiday scenes from days gone by as interpreters bring history to life. Visit the Old Courthouse, where the judge and lawyer prepare to wrap up the year, or stop by the Tavern’s tap room to meet travelers from the trail. At the Academy, see young ladies getting ready for Christmas while the schoolteacher takes a well-deserved break. Head up the hill to the George Caleb Bingham Home, where a family is busy with Christmas preparations, and warm up in the kitchen as the cook prepares Christmas dinner. The pathway will be lit, but bring a flashlight to make the most of your journey.
